Here at the Renaissance Chicago North Shore Hotel we can’t wait to let you in on all the ghoulish fun we will be having this Halloween. Not all of the tricks take place on October 31st. This year Chicago’s North Shore has plenty of treats to hand-out throughout
Halloween weekend.

The Chicago Botanic Gardens

Trains, Tricks, and Treats & the Spooky Pooch Parade

As mentioned in a previous post, The Chicago Botanic Gardens has a plethora of events that the whole family can enjoy.

On Saturday and Sunday, the gardens will be hosting their annual Trains, Tricks, and Treats event. Stop by the mysteriously decorated model railroad garden in costume and hunt for treats and treasures along the tracks all day.  We highly suggest stopping-by Saturday morning, so you can also witness a very special event.

Once-a-year, The Chicago Botanic Gardens opens its doors to our four-legged furry friends for their annual Spooky Pooch Parade.  Watch the parade of costumed canines strut their stuff for the judges and see which of man’s best friend  takes home first prize in each category.

The Chicago Botanic Garden is located at 1000 Lake Cook Road, Glencoe, IL 60022, a short walk or ride on our complimentary shuttle, and The Renaissance Chicago North Shore is a pet-friendly hotel.

Six Flags Great America

Fright Fest

Perhaps you’re more like us and you prefer to celebrate with an event that is a little more sinister this Halloween. If that’s the case, then we urge you to enjoy a frightening night at Six Flags Great America’s Fright by Night. Here at The Renaissance Chicago North Shore Hotel we love a good scare, and Fright Fest has provided us with that terrifying feeling.  This year, with the addition of Big Top Terror we find ourselves more than ever afraid of all things that go bump in the night. If you love haunted mazes, haunted houses, ghouls, zombies, and dancing monsters, then Six Flags Great America is a perfectly bone-chilling way to spend the Halloween weekend.  On All Hallows’ Eve they open their gates early at 5:00 pm, but beware, Fright Fest will surely give you nightmares long into the night.

Six Flags Great America is located at , a straight ride up I-94, or US-41N from The Renaissance Chicago North Shore Hotel.

 Winnetka Park District

Pumpkins In The Woods

Looking for a little more of a family friendly event?  The Renaissance Chicago North Shore Hotel always stops by the Winnetka Park District’s Pumpkins In the Woods event, this year taking place on Friday October 28th. We love to spend time with the whole family decorating  pumpkins, enjoying a carnival game or two, and even participating in the costume contest. This kid-centric event is certain to provide you with wonderful memories and is a great kick-off to your Halloween celebrations. The pumpkin patch opens at 5:00 pm.

Hubbard Woods is located at 939 Green Bay Road Winnetka, IL 60093, just a short ride away The Renaissance Chicago North Shore via our complimentary shuttle.

Haunted House

Scream Scene

Our Halloween Season is never complete without a visit to a haunted house, and luckily we’ve found the perfect one in Skokie, presented by the Skokie Park District. Scream Scene surprises, shocks, and terrifies us every year with scares that are authentic and unexpected at every turn. The clown maze and doctor’s waiting room left us shrieking in horror.  This haunted house takes approximately ten minutes to travel through, which for us was the perfect amount of terror-time. If you are looking for a haunted house we urge you to visit Scream Scene this Halloween.

Scream Scene is located at 4701 Oakton Street in Skokie, under a 15 minute drive from The Renaissance Chicago North Shore Hotel.

Meet us in RLounge as our wicked mixologists handcraft our first “Day of The Dead” cocktail. Not able to join us in person? Celebrate Halloween with us by checking out our live feed on our Facebook  page starting at 5:30pm.

And for more local goings-on, check out Chicago’s North Shore Convention and Visitors Bureau Fall Events page.
